That was a diagram. This is the app, unedited.

Five searches, each recorded in one take on a project of 1,335 stock clips. No result was picked by hand and nothing is composited.

A sentence nobody tagged. The result opens on the frame that matched.

Ten hours of footage is 864,000 frames. You remember one of them.

10 h × 3,600 s × 24 fps

Past ten hours, finding the shot stops being part of the edit and becomes the edit. Whole days go to scrubbing, pulls and culling, and the energy the cut needed goes with them.

Vicuda takes that part of the job, so the creative part gets its day back. That is the whole idea: keep creatives creative.

Results in 133 ms

Median time from the last keystroke to a grid of shots. About as long as a blink.

Works with the Wi‑Fi off.

  • Nothing is uploaded.

Indexing and search happen on your Mac. The footage stays on the drive it came off.

  • Nothing is generated.

The models are there to find shots. They never make a frame or a sound.

  • Your footage trains nothing.

Not our models, not anyone’s. What you shot stays yours.

Questions

Does it really work offline?

Yes. Indexing and search run on your Mac, so once it is installed you can turn the Wi-Fi off and nothing changes. Unplug the footage drive and you can still search and skim it from a small proxy Vicuda keeps while it indexes. Full-res playback and export need the drive back.

What formats does it read?

Anything macOS decodes: ProRes, HEVC, H.264, XAVC S and the usual audio formats, plus photos. Raw support (BRAW, R3D, ARRIRAW) is coming in the December 1 build. If your camera is something else, tick the drive box when you join and I will test against your footage.

Which editors does it send to?

Final Cut Pro as FCPXML, and Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve through the XML both of them import. Several stacks go out in one file, a sequence each, with your selects in order and voice notes as markers on the clips.

How much does it cost?

One price, paid once, and the version you buy keeps working. Major upgrades are paid, every few years, and you can skip them. No subscription, no account. The price is announced at launch, and the waitlist gets a founder’s price.

What does on-device mean here?

The models that read your frames and your audio ship inside the app and run on your Mac. Your footage is never uploaded, nothing is generated from it, and it trains nothing. The index is one SQLite file on your disk that you can open yourself.

I’m building Vicuda on my own, as a native Mac app, because the footage I want to search sits on a drive next to me and should not have to go anywhere to be found. Everything on this page was captured from the build I use every day.
